Possible Causes
Torn or perished door gasket, Foreign object trapped in seal, Loose retaining band, Excessive suds causing overflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance and turn off water supply before inspection.
- Inspect door seal: Open the door and carefully examine the rubber gasket all around for tears, holes, or deformation. Remove any coins, bra wires, or debris lodged in the folds.
- Check retaining bands: Ensure the outer and inner metal or wire bands holding the seal are tight and correctly seated. Refit if loose.
- Detergent use: Use only HE (low-suds) detergent and correct dosage. Over-sudsing can cause leaks from the door area.
- Replace gasket: If damaged, remove the retaining bands, pull off the old gasket, fit a new Hotpoint-compatible door seal, and refit the bands securely.
