Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC thermistor on heater housing, loose NTC wiring connector, damaged wiring between NTC and control board, faulty main control board temperature circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect from mains and allow the machine to cool before working near the heater.
- Access the NTC sensor: Remove the rear panel. Locate the main wash heater on the side or bottom of the tub. The NTC sensor is usually clipped into or near the heater housing with two wires attached.
- Check connections: Ensure the NTC plug is fully seated and there are no corroded or broken wires. Reseat the connector.
- Test the NTC: Remove the NTC sensor and measure its resistance with a multimeter at room temperature. Typical Indesit NTCs read around 20 kΩ at 20°C (exact value varies by model). If it reads open circuit or near 0 Ω, replace the NTC.
- Inspect wiring to PCB: Trace the NTC wires back to the control board. Look for pinched, burnt, or broken wires. Repair or replace as needed.
- Control board check: If the NTC and wiring are good but F03 persists, the temperature sensing circuit on the main PCB may be faulty and the board will need replacement.
