Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, blocked drain hose, failed drain pump motor, faulty pressure switch stuck on full, wiring fault to pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance. Be prepared for water spillage when opening the filter.
- Access pump filter: Open the lower front access flap. Place a shallow tray and towels under the filter cap. Slowly unscrew the cap to drain water.
- Clean filter and impeller: Remove coins, lint, buttons, and debris from the filter and pump housing. Check that the pump impeller spins freely and is not jammed.
- Check drain hose: Inspect the external drain hose for kinks or blockages. Detach from the standpipe or sink trap and flush through with water.
- Test pump operation: With the machine unplugged, check the pump wiring connector for secure fit and signs of burning. If you have a multimeter, measure pump coil resistance (typically 150–300 Ω). An open circuit indicates a failed pump.
- Pressure switch check: If the pump runs but F05 persists, the pressure switch may be stuck indicating water present. Refer to F04 steps to inspect and clean the pressure system.
- Replace parts as needed: If the pump is noisy, seized, or electrically open, replace the drain pump assembly with an Indesit-compatible unit.
