Possible Causes
Heater element shorted to chassis, stuck heater relay on PCB, moisture tracking on heater terminals, damaged wiring insulation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance. This fault can involve live-to-earth shorts; do not operate until resolved.
- Visual inspection: Remove rear panel and inspect the heater terminals and wiring for signs of arcing, burning, or moisture.
- Insulation test (for qualified persons): With the heater disconnected, use a megohmmeter to test resistance between each heater terminal and earth. It should be very high (typically >20 MΩ). A low reading indicates a short to earth and the heater must be replaced.
- Check wiring harness: Inspect the heater wiring from the element to the control board for damaged insulation or chafing against the cabinet.
- Control board relay: If the heater is good, the relay on the PCB may be stuck closed. Inspect the board and replace if the relay is welded or the board is damaged.
