Possible Causes
Door lock mechanism jammed, control board not sending unlock signal, water still detected in drum by pressure switch, broken door handle or latch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance. Do not force the door; glass may break.
- Wait and check: Allow 2–5 minutes after cycle end; some models delay unlocking. Ensure the drum is not still spinning.
- Check for water: If water remains in the drum, drain via the pump filter emergency hose or filter cap, then try opening again.
- Manual release: Many Indesit locks have a manual release tab accessible from the bottom front or by removing the lower kick panel. Pull gently to release the lock.
- Inspect lock and handle: Once open, test the door lock and handle. Replace the door lock assembly or handle if mechanically or electrically faulty.
