Possible Causes
Clogged lint filter or internal ducts, restricted external vent, weak heating element, failed moisture sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before cleaning ducts.
- Clean lint filter: Remove and clean the lint filter before every load. Wash with warm soapy water if coated with fabric softener residue.
- Clean venting: Disconnect the exhaust hose and clean it thoroughly. Clean the wall vent and exterior hood.
- Test airflow: Run the dryer with the vent hose disconnected (directing air safely). If drying improves, the house vent is restricted.
- Check heater and thermostats: If there is little or no heat, test the dryer heating element, thermal fuse, and thermostats and replace any failed parts.
- Moisture sensor: Clean the metal moisture sensor bars inside the drum with rubbing alcohol to remove film that can cause false readings.
