Possible Causes

Faulty water level pressure switch, clogged air dome or pressure hose, failed NTC temperature sensor, wiring harness issue between sensor and control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before opening any panels.

  • Check for overfill or low water: If the tub is overfilled, manually bail out water and run a drain cycle. If the tub is nearly empty but code appears, suspect sensor issues.
  • Inspect pressure hose: Remove the top panel. Locate the small rubber or clear hose running from the tub/air dome to the pressure switch. Ensure it is not kinked, cracked, or disconnected. Blow gently through the hose to clear soap residue or lint.
  • Check pressure switch: With the hose removed, gently blow into the switch and listen for clicks. If no clicks or if the switch rattles loosely, it may be defective.
  • Temperature sensor (if applicable): On some Kenmore combos, F05 can indicate a faulty NTC sensor on the heater or tub. Access the sensor at the heater housing or tub wall, check for loose wiring, and test resistance with a multimeter (compare to service manual specs).
  • Replace faulty component: If the hose is clear and wiring is intact but F05 persists, replace the pressure switch or temperature sensor as indicated by your model's tech sheet.
