Possible Causes
Frequent cold washes, excessive detergent use, standing water in door boot, clogged drain passages in gasket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep the door open when not in use to prevent mold. Wear gloves when cleaning moldy areas.
- Clean door boot: Wipe the gasket with a cloth soaked in a mixture of hot water and mild bleach or washer cleaner. Pull back the folds to remove trapped debris.
- Clean dispenser: Remove and scrub the detergent drawer and housing to remove slime and residue.
- Run cleaning cycle: Run a tub clean or hottest wash cycle with no clothes using a washer cleaner or 1 cup of bleach.
- Improve habits: Use HE detergent sparingly, run occasional hot cycles, and leave the door and dispenser drawer slightly open between uses.
