Possible Causes
Faulty pressure switch, blocked pressure hose, failed temperature sensor, wiring harness issue between sensor and control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and shut off both hot and cold water supplies.
- Identify sensor type: On many KitchenAid combos, F05 relates to the water level/pressure switch. Locate the pressure switch near the top of the cabinet with a small air hose attached to the tub.
- Inspect pressure hose: Remove the hose from the switch and blow through it toward the tub. It should be clear. Check for kinks, cracks, or detergent residue blocking the air path. Clean or replace the hose if clogged or damaged.
- Check electrical connections: Ensure the pressure switch connector is fully seated and free of corrosion. Inspect the harness back to the main control board.
- Test the switch: With a multimeter, check continuity across the switch terminals while gently blowing into the pressure port. The contacts should change state as pressure increases. If not, the switch is faulty.
- Replace defective component: Install a new KitchenAid pressure switch or temperature sensor as indicated by testing. Mount securely and reconnect the hose and wiring.
- Run diagnostic: Restore power and run a diagnostic or quick cycle to verify proper filling and that F05 does not reappear.
