Possible Causes

Failed heater relay on control board, shorted heating element, wiring short to chassis, control board logic fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power. Heating components can retain heat; allow time to cool.

  • Inspect heater wiring: Remove rear panel and locate the wash heater (in tub base) and dryer heater (in air duct, if combo uses electric drying). Check for burnt wires, loose terminals, or signs of arcing.
  • Test heating element: Disconnect the heater leads and measure resistance across the element. Compare to service specs (typically 10–30 ohms). Also check for continuity between each terminal and ground; there should be none. Replace the heater if shorted or open.
  • Check thermostats/thermal fuses: Locate any inline thermostats or thermal cutoffs on the heater housing. Test for continuity; replace any that are open.
  • Control board relay: If elements and thermostats test good, the heater relay on the main control may be stuck or failed. Inspect the board for burnt relay contacts or discoloration. Replace the control board if relay failure is confirmed.
  • Reassemble and test: After replacing any faulty parts, reassemble panels, restore power, and run a warm wash and a drying cycle to confirm proper heating and that F07 is cleared.
