Possible Causes
Loose wiring harness between user interface and main control, failed user interface board, failed main control board, electrical noise or surge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing any control boards.
- Access controls: Remove the top panel and, if needed, the console screws to access the user interface (UI) board and main control board.
- Check harness connections: Inspect the ribbon cable and harness connectors between the UI and main control. Reseat each connector and ensure locking tabs are engaged.
- Inspect for damage: Look for burnt spots, corrosion, or moisture on either board. If there are signs of liquid intrusion into the console, the UI board may be damaged.
- Power reset: After reseating connectors, leave the unit unplugged for 5 minutes, then restore power and attempt to enter diagnostic mode or start a cycle.
- Board replacement: If F10 persists and wiring is intact, replace the suspected faulty board (often the UI first, then the main control if needed) using the exact KitchenAid part number.
