Possible Causes
Worn shock absorbers, weakened suspension springs, unbalanced load, loose counterweight bolts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Use caution when tipping or moving the appliance.
- Check load first: Ensure loads are not too small or too large. Redistribute laundry evenly and avoid mixing heavy items with light ones.
- Inspect shocks: Remove the rear and/or front lower panel to access the shock absorbers attached between the tub and base. Look for oil leakage, broken mounts, or excessive play. Replace all shocks as a set if worn.
- Inspect suspension springs: From the top or rear, check the tub suspension springs for stretching or damage. Replace any deformed springs with OEM KitchenAid parts.
- Check counterweights: Inspect concrete or cast-iron counterweights on the tub for cracks or loose mounting bolts. Tighten bolts to spec; replace cracked weights.
- Level the unit: Adjust the leveling feet so the washer-dryer is stable and does not rock. Lock the feet in place.
