Possible Causes

Blocked lint filter or condenser, Failed or tripped high-limit thermostat, Restricted dryer fan or duct, Faulty dryer heater control on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Surfaces in the dryer section can be very hot; wait until fully cooled.

  • Step 1 – Clean all filters: Remove and clean the lint filter and any secondary filters. Rinse and dry thoroughly before refitting.
  • Step 2 – Clean condenser and ducts: If the model has a removable condenser, take it out and wash under running water. Use a vacuum or soft brush to remove lint from internal ducts and around the fan.
  • Step 3 – Check fan operation: Access the dryer fan and ensure it spins freely. If stiff or noisy, replace the fan motor assembly.
  • Step 4 – Inspect thermostats: Locate the high-limit thermostat(s) on the heater housing or duct. Test for continuity. Replace any open thermostats. If a manual reset button is present, press to reset after cleaning airflow paths.
  • Step 5 – PCB control: If airflow is good and thermostats and heater are intact but E12 persists, the control PCB may be mismanaging heater power. Professional diagnosis and possible PCB replacement are recommended.
