Possible Causes
Partially blocked drain pump, Partially blocked drain hose or standpipe, Foreign object in sump hose, Weak or failing drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Expect water spillage when opening the pump filter.
- Step 1 – Clean pump filter: Open the pump access flap, place a tray underneath, and slowly unscrew the filter. Remove lint, coins, and debris. Check the pump impeller for free movement.
- Step 2 – Inspect sump hose: From the front or underside, locate the large hose between the tub and pump. Clamp or pinch it, remove the clamp, and check inside for socks or other obstructions. Refit securely.
- Step 3 – Check external plumbing: Ensure the drain hose is not pushed too far into the standpipe and that the standpipe or sink trap is not blocked.
- Step 4 – Pump performance: Run a drain-only program and observe the water flow from the drain hose into a bucket. Weak or intermittent flow suggests a failing pump that should be replaced.
