Faulty start/pause button, Child lock function enabled, Defective user interface PCB, Loose UI ribbon cable to main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing the control panel.
- Step 1 – Check child lock: Refer to the user manual for the child lock combination (often holding two buttons). Disable child lock and try again.
- Step 2 – Reset machine: Turn the program selector to OFF (if present), wait 30 seconds, then select a simple cycle and press start.
- Step 3 – Inspect start button: Remove the control panel fascia and check the start button switch on the PCB. Test with a multimeter for continuity when pressed. Replace the UI PCB if the switch is faulty or the board is damaged.
- Step 4 – Ribbon cable: Reseat the ribbon cable between the UI and main PCB. Ensure no corrosion or bent pins.
