Possible Causes
Drive belt slipping on pulley, Lint buildup on dryer heater, Foreign object rubbing on drum, Electrical short or overheating connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately stop the machine, unplug it, and do not use again until inspected. Fire risk is possible.
- Step 1 – Visual and smell check: After cooling, remove the top and rear panels and look for scorched wiring, melted plastic, or blackened components. Follow the smell to its source.
- Step 2 – Belt and pulleys: Inspect the drive belt and pulleys for rubber dust or glazing. Replace a slipping or damaged belt and ensure pulleys are aligned.
- Step 3 – Dryer heater and lint: Clean lint from the dryer heater housing, ducts, and condenser. Blocked airflow can cause overheating.
- Step 4 – Foreign objects: Check around the drum edges and seal for trapped items causing friction.
- Step 5 – Electrical damage: Any burnt connectors or wiring should be replaced. If the main PCB or heater shows severe damage, seek professional repair or replacement.
