Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Worn idler pulley, Seized drum rollers or support wheels, Motor pulley spinning on shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing panels or reaching into the cabinet.
- 1. Try to turn drum by hand: If the drum turns very easily with little resistance, the belt may be broken. If it is very stiff, a roller or bearing may be seized.
- 2. Remove rear panel: Inspect the belt around the drum and motor pulley. Replace if broken or heavily worn.
- 3. Check idler pulley and rollers: Spin each by hand; they should rotate smoothly without noise. Replace any that are noisy or seized.
- 4. Reinstall belt correctly: Route the new belt around the drum, motor pulley, and idler according to the belt routing diagram for your Magic Chef model.
