Possible Causes
Defective door lock mechanism, Jammed latch due to clothing caught in door, Faulty door lock wiring, Control board not sending unlock signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Water may still be in the drum; be prepared for spillage when opening the door manually.
- 1. Attempt a power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try to start and cancel a cycle to trigger an unlock.
- 2. Check for trapped fabric: Gently pull on the door while looking around the gasket for clothing caught in the door area. Do not force the door open.
- 3. Use emergency release (if equipped): Some Magic Chef combos have a manual door release tab accessible through the pump filter access or behind the lower front panel. Pull the tab to mechanically unlock the door.
- 4. Inspect door lock assembly: Once the door is open and unit unplugged, remove the front gasket clamp and access the lock. Check for broken parts or burned connectors.
- 5. Replace the door lock: If the lock does not actuate or release properly, install a new door lock assembly and reassemble the front gasket securely.
- 6. If E11 remains: The control board may not be driving the lock correctly and may require replacement.
