Possible Causes

Faulty hall (tach) sensor on motor, Loose motor pulley or belt (if belt-driven), Damaged motor wiring harness, Defective main control board speed circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the motor or drum drive.

  • 1. Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. If it is very stiff or jammed, inspect for foreign objects between the inner and outer tubs.
  • 2. Inspect drive system: Remove the rear panel. If your Magic Chef combo uses a belt, check for a broken or slipped belt and replace if worn or snapped.
  • 3. Inspect hall sensor and wiring: On direct-drive models, locate the hall sensor on the motor or stator. Ensure it is firmly attached and the connector is secure. Look for damaged wires.
  • 4. Test hall sensor: Using the service manual procedure, measure sensor output while rotating the motor shaft by hand. No signal indicates a failed sensor.
  • 5. Replace faulty components: Install a new hall sensor or belt as needed. If the sensor and wiring are good, the main control board may be at fault.
