Possible Causes
Severely unbalanced laundry load, Worn suspension rods or dampers, Loose or broken tub springs, Faulty hall sensor (motor speed sensor)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before inspecting internal components. Do not bypass safety interlocks.
- 1. Correct the load: Open the door when safe, redistribute clothes evenly around the drum, and avoid washing a single heavy item (like one bath mat). Remove some items if the drum is overfilled.
- 2. Check leveling: Ensure the Magic Chef combo is level front-to-back and side-to-side. Adjust the front leveling feet and lock them in place. Excessive wobble can trigger unbalance errors.
- 3. Inspect suspension system: Remove the top panel and gently press down on the drum. It should move smoothly and return without excessive bouncing. Check suspension rods, dampers, and tub springs for wear, oil leakage, or breakage; replace as a set if worn.
- 4. Inspect motor and hall sensor: Access the rear of the unit, remove the back panel, and inspect the drive motor and hall (tach) sensor on the motor or stator. Ensure the sensor connector is secure and wiring is intact.
- 5. Test spin without load: Run a spin-only cycle empty. If E3 still appears, suspect a failing hall sensor or control board and consider professional service.
