Possible Causes

Stuck-open water inlet valve, Blocked pressure hose or faulty pressure sensor, Siphoning due to incorrect drain hose installation, Faulty main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and shut off water supply immediately if overfilling occurs. Mop up any standing water to prevent slipping.

  • 1. Check drain hose installation: Ensure the drain hose is installed at the correct height (usually 30–96 inches above floor) and not inserted too far into the standpipe, which can cause siphoning.
  • 2. Inspect water inlet valve operation: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the hoses and check for debris. If water continues to flow into the tub when the machine is unplugged and water supply is on, the inlet valve is mechanically stuck open and must be replaced.
  • 3. Verify pressure sensor and hose: Follow the steps from the E8 procedure to ensure the pressure hose and sensor are not blocked or damaged.
  • 4. Examine the tub air dome: Where the pressure hose connects to the tub, check for heavy detergent buildup. Clean the port carefully to restore proper air pressure sensing.
  • 5. If all components test good: The control board may be misinterpreting the water level signal and should be evaluated by a technician.
