Possible Causes
Torn or worn door gasket (boot), Foreign object trapped in gasket, Loose door gasket clamp, Excessive suds from wrong detergent
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and turn off water supply before inspecting for leaks.
- 1. Inspect door gasket: Open the door and carefully examine the rubber boot all the way around. Look for tears, holes, or areas where it has pulled away from the tub or front panel.
- 2. Remove debris: Clean out coins, hairpins, or lint trapped in the folds of the gasket.
- 3. Check clamps: If the gasket is loose, remove the outer retaining band and reseat the gasket lip on the front panel, then reinstall the clamp securely.
- 4. Use HE detergent: Ensure you are using high-efficiency detergent in the correct amount. Over-sudsing can cause leaks over the door lip.
- 5. Replace damaged gasket: If the boot is torn or permanently deformed, replace it with a Magic Chef-specific door gasket and reinstall both inner and outer clamps.
