Possible Causes
Failed heating element, stuck heater relay on control board, open high-limit thermostat, wiring issue in heater circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and ensure the drum is cool before working on the heater circuit.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Access heater: Remove the rear panel. The heater is usually mounted in the lower rear of the outer tub with two terminals and a ground connection.
- 2. Visual inspection: Look for burnt terminals, melted insulation, or signs of arcing at the heater and wiring.
- 3. Test heater element: Disconnect the heater wires. Measure resistance across the heater terminals with a multimeter. Typical values are 10–30 Ω (check your tech sheet). If open (OL) or shorted, replace the heater.
- 4. Check high-limit thermostat/thermal fuse (if fitted): Locate any thermostats or thermal cutoffs in series with the heater. Test for continuity; replace any that are open.
- 5. Inspect control board relay: If the heater and thermostats test good, the heater relay on the main control board may be stuck or failed. Look for burnt spots near the relay. Replacement of the control board is usually required.
- 6. Reassemble and test: After replacing any faulty parts, reassemble, plug in, and run a hot wash to confirm proper heating and that F07 does not reappear.
