Possible Causes
Defective cold water inlet valve coil, Loose wiring harness to inlet valve, Faulty electronic control board (ELP/ELPWA), Blocked inlet filter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water tap before inspection.
- Repeat basic inlet checks: Confirm tap is open, hose is not kinked, and filters are clean as described for F10.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the top cover (usually two screws at the back, slide back and lift). Locate the water inlet valve assembly at the rear. Check the wiring connectors for secure fit and signs of burning or corrosion.
- Coil resistance check (advanced): With the valve disconnected and power off, measure resistance across the cold valve coil using a multimeter. Compare to Miele specifications (typically in the few kilo-ohm range). Replace the valve if open or shorted.
- Control board suspicion: If valve and wiring are good but F12 persists, the main control board may not be energizing the valve correctly. This requires professional diagnosis and likely board replacement.
