Possible Causes
Failed wash heater element, Failed dryer heater element, Open high-limit thermostat or NTC sensor, Wiring fault between heater and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. Heating components can retain heat; allow the machine to cool before working.
- Run a test program: Select a hot wash or drying cycle and monitor if the drum warms at all (do not touch internal parts while powered).
- Access rear or side panel: Depending on model, remove the rear or side panel to access the wash heater (in the tub) and dryer heater (in the air duct).
- Visual inspection: Look for burned connectors, melted insulation, or signs of overheating on heater terminals and thermostats.
- Check continuity: With a multimeter, test the wash heater, dryer heater, and thermostats/NTC sensors for continuity and correct resistance. Replace any open components.
- Professional service: If all components test good, the electronic control module may not be driving the heater relays correctly and should be diagnosed by a Miele-trained technician.
