Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and be prepared for water spillage. Keep towels and a shallow pan ready.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Access the drain filter: On most Monogram combos, the drain pump filter is behind a lower front access panel. Open the panel and locate the filter cap.
- 2. Drain residual water: If equipped with a small drain tube, pull it out and drain into a pan. Otherwise, slowly loosen the filter cap to allow water to drain gradually.
- 3. Clean the filter: Remove the filter completely and clear out lint, coins, buttons, and other debris. Inspect the pump impeller behind the filter for obstructions and ensure it spins freely.
- 4. Check the drain hose: Inspect the external drain hose for kinks, crushing, or clogs at the standpipe or sink connection. Remove the hose and flush it with water if necessary.
- 5. Test the drain pump: With the unit unplugged, access the drain pump from the bottom or rear. Check the wiring connector for secure fit and signs of burning. Use a multimeter to test the pump motor for continuity. An open circuit indicates a failed pump.
- 6. Replace the drain pump if needed: If the pump is noisy, seized, or electrically open, install a new OEM Monogram drain pump assembly. Transfer any mounting brackets and seals from the old pump.
- 7. Reassemble and test: Reinstall the filter, close the access panel, reconnect the drain hose, restore power, and run a drain/spin cycle to confirm E03 is cleared.
When to call a technician: If the pump and hoses are clear and functional but E03 persists, there may be a wiring or control board issue requiring professional service.
