Possible Causes

Defective door interlock switch, Broken or misaligned door latch hook, Wiring issue between door lock and main PCB, Faulty main control board (PCB)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer-dryer combo from the mains before removing any panels. Do not bypass the door lock for testing with the machine powered.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Power reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then reconnect and try a short wash. Sometimes the control board will clear a temporary E01 after a hard reset.
  • 2. Inspect the door and latch: Check that the door closes fully and that the metal/plastic latch hook on the door is not bent, cracked, or loose. If damaged, replace the door latch hook assembly.
  • 3. Check the door seal area: Ensure no clothing, coins, or debris are trapped between the door and the rubber door gasket that could prevent full closure.
  • 4. Access the door interlock: Remove the front retaining band of the door gasket and gently pull the gasket back near the lock area. Unscrew the door interlock from the front panel. Inspect the connector for signs of burning, corrosion, or loose pins.
  • 5. Test the door lock: With a multimeter (machine unplugged), test the door interlock terminals for continuity when the lock is engaged (refer to a Montpellier service diagram for your exact model). If readings are open when they should be closed, replace the door interlock assembly.
  • 6. Inspect wiring harness: Trace the harness from the door lock to the main PCB (usually at the rear or side). Look for pinched, broken, or burnt wires and repair or replace as needed.
  • 7. PCB diagnosis: If a known-good door lock and wiring are OK but E01 persists, the main control board relay or input circuit may be faulty. At this stage, professional diagnosis or PCB replacement is recommended.
