Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Loose tachometer magnet on motor shaft, Damaged motor wiring harness, Faulty speed sensing circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the motor or PCB. Avoid rotating the motor with power applied.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Check load and balance: Ensure the drum is not overloaded or with a single heavy item (e.g., a duvet). An unbalanced load can prevent spin and may trigger speed errors. Redistribute laundry and try again.
- 2. Access the motor: Remove the rear panel and inspect the motor and belt. Confirm the belt is tight and not slipping.
- 3. Inspect tachometer: At the rear of the motor, locate the tachometer coil and magnet. Ensure the magnet is firmly attached to the shaft and not cracked. Check that the coil is secure and not physically damaged.
- 4. Test tachometer resistance: With the machine unplugged, disconnect the tachometer connector and measure resistance (typically 100–200 Ω). Replace the motor or tachometer assembly if readings are out of range or open circuit.
- 5. Wiring harness: Trace the tachometer wires back to the PCB. Look for chafed insulation, broken conductors, or loose connectors. Repair or replace as necessary.
- 6. PCB speed circuit: If the tachometer and wiring are good but E08 persists, the PCB speed sensing circuit may be defective. This requires specialist testing and usually PCB replacement.
