Possible Causes
Blocked condenser unit, Faulty dryer fan motor, Obstructed air duct, Faulty dryer NTC sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool before working on the dryer system.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Clean condenser and filters: Remove the condenser (if user-removable on your Montpellier model) and rinse thoroughly to remove lint. Clean any internal lint filters and ensure the lower housing is free of fluff.
- 2. Check air ducts: Remove the rear panel and inspect the plastic or metal ducts leading from the drum to the condenser and heater. Clear any lint build-up or obstructions.
- 3. Inspect dryer fan: Locate the dryer fan motor and blower wheel. Ensure the wheel is not clogged with lint and that it spins freely. If the motor does not run during drying, test it for continuity and replace if faulty.
- 4. Test dryer NTC: If fitted in the air duct, measure the NTC sensor resistance at room temperature and compare to specifications. Replace if readings are abnormal.
- 5. PCB and wiring: Check wiring to the fan motor and NTC. If all components are good but E12 persists, the PCB may not be driving the fan correctly and may need replacement.
