Possible Causes

Water leak into base tray activating float switch, Loose hose clamp on sump or pump, Split door seal, Cracked tub or hose

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and turn off the water supply. Be prepared for water spillage when tilting the machine.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Inspect for visible leaks: Look around the front, sides, and rear of the machine for signs of water. Check the door seal for tears or splits.
  • 2. Drain the base tray: Carefully tilt the machine backwards (with assistance) to allow any water in the base tray to drain out onto towels. This may temporarily clear E13 but the source of the leak must be found.
  • 3. Remove lower front or rear panel: Access the base area and locate the anti-flood float switch (often a polystyrene float with a microswitch). Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck by debris.
  • 4. Check hoses and clamps: Inspect the sump hose from tub to pump, the drain hose, and any recirculation hoses for splits, loose clamps, or rubbing points. Tighten clamps and replace damaged hoses.
  • 5. Inspect pump and seals: Check around the drain pump body and heater seals for signs of leakage. Replace seals or components as needed.
  • 6. Test float switch: With the machine unplugged, test the float switch for correct operation using a multimeter. Replace if stuck or faulty.
