Possible Causes
Worn or broken suspension dampers, Loose concrete counterweights, Unbalanced load, Faulty unbalance detection via motor feedback
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before tipping or removing panels. The drum and weights are heavy.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Check installation: Ensure the washer-dryer is level on a solid floor. Adjust the feet so the cabinet does not rock. Remove any transit bolts if the machine is newly installed.
- 2. Check load distribution: Avoid washing a single heavy item. Redistribute laundry and run a spin-only cycle to see if E16 reoccurs.
- 3. Inspect dampers: Remove the rear or front lower panel to access the suspension dampers. Check for oil leakage, broken mounts, or excessive free play. Replace dampers in pairs if worn.
- 4. Check counterweights: Inspect the concrete or cast-iron weights at the front and/or top of the tub. Ensure all bolts are tight and that the weights are not cracked.
- 5. Motor feedback: If mechanical components are sound but E16 persists, the control may be misinterpreting motor speed fluctuations. Inspect the motor and tachometer as per E08.
