Possible Causes
Partially blocked drain pump, Partially blocked drain hose or standpipe, Kinked drain hose, Weak drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and prepare towels and a tray for water spillage.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Clean pump filter: Open the lower front access and remove the pump filter. Clear all debris and check that the impeller spins freely.
- 2. Check drain hose routing: Ensure the drain hose is not kinked or crushed behind the machine. The outlet height should meet Montpellier installation guidelines (usually 60–100 cm above floor).
- 3. Inspect standpipe or sink trap: A partially blocked household drain can slow water discharge. Clean the standpipe or sink trap and test drainage by pouring water directly into it.
- 4. Test pump performance: Run a drain-only program with the filter refitted and observe the flow into the standpipe. If weak or intermittent, the pump may be failing and should be replaced.
- 5. Wiring and PCB: If the pump is mechanically sound but not receiving power, inspect wiring and the PCB drain output.
