Step-by-step checks:

• 1. Check child lock: Many Montpellier models have a child lock (often activated by holding two buttons). Refer to the user manual and disable the lock. A key symbol on the display indicates it is active.
• 2. Confirm door lock: Ensure the door is fully closed and that you hear the lock engage when Start is pressed. If not, investigate the door lock as per E01/E11.
• 3. Button test: Try other buttons on the panel. If some work and others do not, the keypad or PCB may be faulty. Remove the fascia and inspect for moisture or corrosion.
• 4. Ribbon cable: Check the ribbon cable between the user interface and main PCB. Reseat both ends and inspect for damage.
• 5. Replace user interface PCB: If the main PCB is functioning (machine powers, door locks) but Start remains unresponsive, replace the user interface board.
