Washer-dryer will not start a cycle; display shows E01 and door remains unlocked.

Safety first: Unplug the New World washer-dryer combo from the mains and turn off the water supply before any work. Never work on the appliance while it is live.

• Check door closure: Ensure the door is fully closed and the latch engages firmly. Inspect the plastic door catch on the door and the metal strike on the cabinet for damage or misalignment. Gently lift the door while closing to see if it will lock.
• Inspect the door interlock: Remove the front retaining spring of the door seal (if accessible) and gently pull back the seal to access the door lock assembly. Check for burnt smell, cracks, or loose connectors. Reseat the wiring plug firmly.
• Test continuity: With a multimeter (appliance unplugged), test the door lock terminals for continuity when the lock is engaged (refer to a New World service diagram if available). Replace the door interlock if open circuit.
• Check wiring to PCB: Trace the harness from the door lock to the main control PCB. Look for pinched, broken, or corroded wires, especially near the front panel and hinge area. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
• Reset the machine: After checks, reconnect power, close the door firmly, and attempt a short wash cycle. If E01 persists after replacing the lock and checking wiring, the main control PCB may require professional diagnosis and replacement.
