Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Obstructed drain hose, Faulty drain pump motor, Foreign object in sump hose between tub and pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance. Be prepared for water spillage when opening the filter or hoses.
- Access and clean pump filter: Open the lower front access flap (if fitted) on your New World combo. Place a shallow tray and towels underneath. Slowly unscrew the pump filter cap to let water drain. Remove the filter and clear lint, coins, buttons, and debris. Check the pump impeller spins freely.
- Inspect drain hose: Check the external drain hose at the rear for kinks, crushing, or freezing (in cold environments). Detach from the standpipe or sink trap and flush through with water to remove blockages.
- Check sump hose: Remove the rear or bottom panel to access the large black sump hose from the tub to the pump. Clamp it, remove the clips, and inspect for socks or other obstructions. Clean thoroughly and refit securely.
- Test drain pump: With the machine unplugged, disconnect the pump wiring and measure coil resistance. An open circuit or very high resistance indicates a failed pump. Also check for signs of overheating or leaks around the pump body.
- Run a drain-only cycle: Reassemble, reconnect power, and select a drain or spin-only program. If E03 persists after cleaning and pump replacement, the main control PCB or wiring harness to the pump may be faulty and should be tested by a professional.
