Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer coil, Loose tachometer connector at motor, Worn carbon brushes on universal motor, Defective motor control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the machine before removing panels. Beware of sharp metal edges.
- Access the drive motor: Remove the rear panel to expose the drive belt and motor at the bottom of the tub. Remove the belt to inspect the motor freely.
- Check tachometer coil: At the rear of the motor, locate the small tachometer coil. Ensure its connector is firmly seated. Measure resistance across the tach coil; an open circuit indicates failure and the motor assembly may need replacement.
- Inspect and replace brushes (if fitted): On New World models with a brushed universal motor, remove the brush holders and check brush length. If brushes are worn to less than ~1 cm, replace both with compatible New World motor brushes.
- Check wiring harness: Follow the motor wiring back to the main PCB, looking for chafed insulation or loose plugs. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Test spin cycle: Refit the belt, reassemble, and run a spin-only program with an empty drum. If E06 persists after motor and wiring checks, the motor control section of the PCB is likely faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
