How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Immediately stop the machine, unplug it, and do not continue using it until the cause is found.
- Inspect belt and pulleys: Remove the rear panel and check for rubber dust or a glazed belt. Replace a slipping or damaged belt.
- Check for trapped items: Look around the door seal and between drum and tub for trapped clothing or plastic that could be rubbing.
- Clean dryer heater area: Access the dryer heater and remove lint and dust that could cause hot spots or burning smells.
- Assess motor: If the smell comes from the motor and it is very hot, the motor may be failing and should be tested and replaced if necessary.
