Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Worn motor brushes (if fitted), Seized drum bearings, Faulty motor winding
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before removing the rear panel.
- Check drive belt: Remove the rear panel and inspect the belt between the motor and drum pulley. If broken or off, refit or replace with the correct New World belt.
- Spin drum by hand: Rotate the drum from the front. It should turn smoothly. Grinding or stiffness suggests bearing or foreign object issues.
- Inspect motor brushes: On brushed motors, remove and check carbon brushes. Replace if worn short.
- Test motor: Measure winding resistance and check for burning smell. Replace the motor if windings are open or shorted.
