Possible Causes
Worn or broken drive belt, Faulty drive motor, Loose or damaged motor wiring harness, Defective motor control circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing any panels. Do not bypass safety interlocks.
- Check for overloading: Remove excess laundry and redistribute the load. Restart a spin cycle to rule out simple overload protection.
- Inspect drive belt: Remove the rear panel. Locate the drive belt around the motor pulley and drum pulley. Ensure the belt is not broken, off-track, or heavily worn. Re-seat or replace if necessary.
- Check motor connections: With power unplugged, inspect the motor wiring harness and connectors for burns, looseness, or corrosion. Firmly re-seat all connectors.
- Manual drum rotation: Spin the drum by hand from the front. It should rotate smoothly. If it is very stiff or grinding, there may be a bearing or mechanical obstruction issue rather than an electrical motor fault.
- If E3 persists: The drive motor or motor control circuit on the main control board may be defective. Testing requires a multimeter and knowledge of live voltage diagnostics. For safety, contact a qualified technician to test and replace the motor or PCB as needed.
