Possible Causes
Leaking door gasket, Loose or cracked tub-to-pump hose, Leaking inlet valve or dispenser hose, Activated float switch in base pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and turn off water supply immediately if a leak is suspected.
- Inspect for visible leaks: Check around the door, front panel, and underneath the unit for water. Dry the area with towels.
- Access base pan: Carefully tilt the unit slightly backward (with assistance) and inspect the bottom for standing water. Many NewAir combos have a float switch that triggers E9 when water collects in the base.
- Dry the base: If water is present, soak it up with towels or use a wet/dry vacuum. Allow the area to dry completely before testing.
- Check hoses and gasket: Remove the front lower panel or rear panel. Inspect the tub-to-pump hose, drain hose, and inlet hoses for cracks, loose clamps, or pinholes. Examine the door gasket for tears or deformation.
- Repair or replace leaking parts: Tighten hose clamps, replace damaged hoses, and replace a torn door gasket with a compatible NewAir gasket. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Test for further leaks: Run a short wash while observing the machine. If E9 reappears or leaks persist, further diagnosis of the tub, pump, or valve assemblies by a technician is recommended.
