How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine. Water may spill when opening the filter; keep towels and a shallow tray ready.
Step-by-step checks:
- Access the pump filter: Open the lower front access flap (if fitted) to reach the drain pump filter. Place a tray under it and slowly unscrew the filter cap to let water drain.
- Clean the filter: Remove lint, coins, buttons, and other debris from the filter and pump cavity. Rotate the impeller with your finger; it should turn freely without grinding.
- Check the drain hose: Inspect the drain hose at the back for kinks or clogs. Detach it from the standpipe or sink connection and flush it with water to ensure it is clear.
- Test the pump: After cleaning, reassemble and run a drain or spin-only program. If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent, the pump motor may be defective.
- Electrical test: With power disconnected, access the pump from the rear or bottom panel. Check the wiring connector and test the pump coil for continuity. Replace the drain pump assembly if open circuit or seized.
When to call a technician: If the pump needs replacement and access requires tilting or fully removing panels, or if you see signs of water leaks around the pump housing, professional service is recommended.
