How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains before accessing the motor.
Step-by-step checks:
- Access the motor: Remove the rear panel and belt to access the drive motor.
- Inspect tachometer: At the rear of the motor, locate the tachometer coil (small round module). Check that it is firmly attached and that its connector is secure.
- Test tach coil: Disconnect the tachometer wires and measure resistance with a multimeter. A typical reading is a few hundred ohms. Infinite or zero resistance indicates a faulty tach coil.
- Check wiring: Follow the motor harness to the control board, looking for chafed insulation or broken conductors. Repair or replace as needed.
- Control board: If the tachometer and wiring are good, the motor control circuit on the PCB may not be reading the signal correctly and may require replacement.
