Possible Causes

Defective door interlock switch, Broken or loose door lock wiring harness, Faulty main control PCB, Misaligned door catch on cabinet

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Rangemaster washer-dryer combo from the mains and turn off the water supply before any work. Do not bypass the door lock for testing with the machine powered.

  • Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no clothing is trapped in the seal and that the door catch engages with a solid click.
  • Inspect door catch and strike: Examine the plastic door catch on the door and the metal/plastic strike on the cabinet. If cracked, loose, or worn, the interlock may not engage. Tighten mounting screws; replace damaged parts.
  • Access the door interlock: Remove the front retaining band from the door seal and gently pull the seal back to expose the door lock assembly on the cabinet. Remove the mounting screws and carefully pull the interlock forward.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the wiring harness to the door lock for burnt connectors, loose plugs, or broken wires. Reseat the connector firmly. Repair or replace any damaged wiring.
  • Test/replace door lock: With the unit unplugged, use a multimeter to check continuity across the lock terminals when the mechanism is manually actuated (refer to Rangemaster service data if available). If the lock is open-circuit or visibly heat-damaged, replace the door interlock assembly.
  • Control board check (advanced): If a known-good door lock and wiring are in place but E01 persists, the main control PCB relay or triac that powers the lock may have failed. Visual inspection may show burn marks. Replacement of the PCB is recommended and is best done by a qualified technician.
