Possible Causes

Shorted or open motor triac on control PCB, Shorted motor windings, Damaged motor harness connector, Control PCB failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect from mains. Do not attempt live testing on exposed electronics unless you are qualified.

  • Check belt and drum: Remove the rear panel and confirm the drive belt is intact and correctly seated on both the motor pulley and drum pulley. Replace if broken or badly frayed.
  • Manual drum rotation: Spin the drum by hand. If it is seized or very stiff, investigate for foreign objects between drum and tub or bearing failure rather than an electrical fault.
  • Inspect motor and wiring: Check the motor connector for signs of overheating or loose pins. Reseat the connector. Inspect the harness from motor to PCB for damage.
  • Motor test (advanced): With the motor removed, test winding resistance with a multimeter. A short or open reading indicates a failed motor that must be replaced.
  • PCB inspection: Remove the control PCB housing (usually behind the front control panel or side). Look for burnt tracks or a blown triac in the motor drive section. If damage is visible or motor tests good but E07 persists, the PCB will likely need replacement.
  • Professional repair: Because motor drive faults involve mains-level electronics, Rangemaster recommends a qualified technician for PCB-level work.
