Washer-dryer displays E08 and will not start drying; wash functions may still work

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool fully before accessing dryer components.

• Check airflow: Clean the lint filter (if accessible) and ensure the condenser path and air ducts are not blocked with lint or fluff. Restricted airflow can trip safety thermostats.
• Access dryer heater: On many Rangemaster washer-dryer combos, the dryer heater is mounted in a duct at the rear or top. Remove the top and/or rear panel to locate the heater housing.
• Inspect thermostats and wiring: Identify the thermal cut-outs and thermostats mounted on the heater housing. Check for loose connectors or signs of overheating. Reseat connectors securely.
• Test heater element: Disconnect the heater terminals and measure resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed heater that must be replaced.
• Test thermostats/TCOs: With wires removed, check continuity across each thermostat. Any that read open circuit at room temperature (and are not resettable types) should be replaced.
• Check dryer NTC sensor: Locate the dryer temperature sensor (often in the air duct). Test its resistance at room temperature; replace if open, shorted, or out of spec.
• Reassemble and test: After replacing faulty parts and cleaning ducts, reassemble panels and run a short drying cycle to confirm operation.
