Possible Causes
Open or shorted dryer NTC sensor, Loose NTC wiring connector, Damaged harness between NTC and PCB, Control PCB sensor input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains and allow the appliance to cool before accessing the dryer circuit.
- Locate dryer NTC: Remove the top or rear panel to find the dryer air duct. The NTC sensor is usually clipped into the duct or heater housing with two wires attached.
- Inspect wiring: Check the NTC connector for secure fit and no corrosion. Follow the harness back to the PCB for any signs of damage or pinching.
- Test NTC resistance: With the sensor disconnected, measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to Rangemaster specifications (commonly in the tens of kΩ). An open circuit or near-zero reading indicates a faulty sensor.
- Replace NTC if faulty: Unclip the sensor from the duct and install a new Rangemaster-compatible dryer NTC. Ensure it is fully seated in the airflow path.
- PCB check: If a known-good NTC is fitted and wiring is intact but E14 persists, the control PCB sensor input may be defective and require replacement.
