Possible Causes
Loose drive belt, Worn motor brushes (if fitted), Faulty motor tachometer, Control PCB motor driver fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains before removing the rear panel.
- Inspect drive belt: Remove the rear panel and check that the belt is intact and properly tensioned. If it is loose, frayed, or off the pulley, replace it with a correct Rangemaster belt.
- Check motor brushes: On brushed motors, remove and inspect the carbon brushes. Replace if worn short or chipped.
- Check tachometer and wiring: Ensure the tachometer coil on the motor is secure and its connector is firmly attached. Repair any damaged wiring.
- Test spin: After reassembly, run a spin-only cycle with a small load to see if E20 reoccurs. Persistent errors may indicate a PCB motor driver issue requiring professional service.
