Possible Causes
Clogged inlet screens at water valves, Failed hot or cold water inlet valve assembly, Low household water pressure or closed supply valves, Faulty water level (pressure) sensor or air hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the RCA washer-dryer combo and turn off both hot and cold water supply valves before working on hoses or valves.
- Check household water supply: Verify both hot and cold faucets feeding the washer are fully open. Confirm water pressure by briefly running water into a nearby sink.
- Inspect inlet hoses: Pull the unit forward, shut off water, and disconnect the hot and cold hoses from the rear of the machine. Check for kinks, crushing, or internal collapse. Replace damaged hoses.
- Clean inlet screens: At the rear water inlet ports on the RCA combo, remove and rinse the small metal or plastic filter screens. Use a soft brush to remove sediment; do not puncture the screens.
- Check for valve operation: With hoses reconnected and water turned on, start a fill cycle. Listen for a humming sound from the water inlet valve. If there is no sound and E1 appears quickly, the valve coil may be open or the control is not energizing it.
- Inspect water level sensor and hose: Remove the top panel (usually rear screws, then slide back). Locate the small plastic pressure hose running from the bottom of the tub to the water level sensor on the side or top frame. Ensure the hose is not cracked, kinked, or disconnected. Blow gently through the hose (with unit unplugged) to clear any blockage.
- When to replace parts: If water supply is good and screens are clean but the unit still shows E1 and does not fill, replace the water inlet valve assembly. If the tub overfills or never registers water level, replace the water level (pressure) sensor.
