• Verify household drain: Ensure the standpipe or sink drain is not clogged by running water from a faucet and observing drainage.
• Test drain function: Reassemble and run a drain/spin cycle. If the pump is noisy or fails to move water, it may be weak or failing.
• When to replace parts: Replace the drain pump assembly if it hums but does not pump or if it is excessively noisy and still fails to drain properly.
