Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and close the water tap before any work. Do not bypass the door lock for testing while the machine is powered.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Inspect the door and latch:
- Open and close the door firmly; ensure no laundry is trapped in the seal.
- Check the metal/plastic latch hook on the door for cracks, bending, or looseness.
- If the hook is damaged, replace the door latch hook assembly.
- 2. Check the door lock (interlock):
- Remove the front retaining band of the door seal and gently pull the seal back near the lock.
- Access the door lock (usually held by 2 screws from the front panel).
- Disconnect the connector and inspect for burnt pins or corrosion.
- With a multimeter (appliance unplugged), test the lock coil for continuity according to Siemens specs (typically a few kΩ). If open or shorted, replace the door lock.
- 3. Inspect wiring harness:
- Trace the harness from the door lock to the main control (power module).
- Look for pinched, broken, or burnt wires, especially near the hinge area and front frame.
- Repair or replace damaged wiring and ensure connectors are fully seated.
- 4. Control module check (advanced):
- If the lock and wiring test good but E01 persists, the door lock relay or triac on the power module may be faulty.
- This requires board-level diagnosis; in most cases, replace the power module.
When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable removing the front seal or testing live circuits, or if the control module is suspected, contact an authorized Siemens service technician.
